"LA Leaders Form Task Force to Combat Retail Flash Mob Robberies"
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and local law enforcement have announced the creation of a regional task force, the Organized Retail Crimes Task Force, in response to a series of flash mob robberies targeting high-end stores in the area. The task force, led by the Los Angeles Police Department and including other local departments as well as state and federal partners, aims to combat rampant retail theft and hold the perpetrators accountable. Concerns have been raised about the city's zero cash bail policy, but officials stated that individuals charged with retail theft may be held in jail, while those charged with grand theft could potentially be released on bail. The task force will consist of 22 full-time investigators and will work towards ensuring the safety of shoppers and businesses in Los Angeles.
