Eviction Threat Looms Over Historic Fisherman's Wharf Restaurants
Two long-standing San Francisco restaurants, Fisherman's Grotto No. 9 and Tarantino's at Fisherman's Wharf, are facing eviction after being named in unlawful detainer lawsuits for unpaid rent. The Port of San Francisco has initiated eviction proceedings, with the Grotto owing $332,642 and Tarantino's owing $147,436 in rent. The businesses together owe $1.4 million in unpaid rent dating back to March 2020. Both restaurants have been tenants at Fisherman's Wharf for decades and are in year 53 of a 66-year lease. The owner of Herringbone Tavern Inc., Chris Henry, recently took over both restaurants and is open to exploring strategies to keep them open.
