An 80-year-old man, Dennis Felt, died in a house fire in Dallas County on New Year's Day. His wife escaped uninjured, but he was found deceased inside their home. The fire, which was reported at 9:42 p.m., was battled by 14 fire departments and took several hours to extinguish. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Iowa fire marshal and appears to be accidental. Multiple emergency services and sheriff's offices assisted at the scene.
