A24 Lands Olivia Wilde’s Sundance Comedy After Heated Auction
Olivia Wilde’s Sundance darling The Invite has been acquired by A24 after a multi-day bidding war, with the deal reportedly north of $12 million. Wilde directed and stars in the relationship comedy about a dinner party whose swingers upstairs neighbors complicate matters; the project—written by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack and a remake of The People Upstairs—was produced by Annapurna. UTA Independent Film Group and FilmNation co-repped the sale, and Wilde pushed for a traditional theatrical release. The film marks her third directing effort and another Sundance entry this year, with praise from Variety’s Owen Gleiberman.
