Film composer Hans Zimmer proposed to his partner during a live concert performance in London on Thursday night. The composer, known for his work on films such as The Lion King and Gladiator, brought his partner on stage and asked her to marry him, to which she said yes. Zimmer is currently on a European concert tour playing music from some of his most famous film soundtracks.
Japanese musician and film composer Ryuichi Sakamoto died at the age of 71 after a battle with cancer. He was a pioneer of electronic music and founded Yellow Magic Orchestra. His work for the 1987 movie "The Last Emperor" won an Oscar and Grammy. Sakamoto was also a pacifist and spoke against nuclear power after the Fukushima nuclear plant meltdowns in 2011. Despite his illness, he continued to work on music until his final days. Funeral services were held with close friends and family.
