Custom Camera Building is launching a new line of affordable, large-format and panoramic film cameras on Kickstarter, featuring rugged composite materials, interchangeable parts, and compatibility with various formats, with shipping expected in November.
I'm Back Film is introducing a 35mm cartridge with an attached 20-megapixel Micro Four Thirds sensor, allowing old SLR film cameras to be used as digital cameras. The project solves engineering challenges such as the distance between reel and exposure window, and the sensor can slide from side to side. While the project appeals to those nostalgic for their old rigs, it may be arriving too late as digital SLRs are now widely available and the revival of film use has given photographers a reason to use their old cameras as intended. The crowdsourcing campaign for the project will begin soon.
