Fernando Valenzuela's Cause of Death Unveiled
Legendary Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Fernando Valenzuela passed away at 63 due to septic shock, with underlying causes including decompensated alcoholic cirrhosis and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis cirrhosis. The medical examiner also noted a possible rare brain disorder, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. Valenzuela, who inspired "Fernandomania," was honored by the Dodgers with a jersey patch during the World Series, which they won against the Yankees. The victory parade coincided with what would have been his 64th birthday.
