A suspect was injured in a deputy shooting in San Juan County, New Mexico, after deputies and detectives were sent out for a search warrant related to a felon in possession of a firearm. The suspect pulled a knife and two deputies fired their guns, hitting the suspect who was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. No one else was injured.
Nathan Pelham, a Texas man charged in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, has been hit with an additional federal firearm charge after allegedly shooting at law enforcement ahead of his first court appearance. Pelham, a previously convicted felon, was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm in addition to four misdemeanor counts related to his alleged participation in the Capitol breach. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison on the gun charge and three years on the misdemeanors. Over 1,000 individuals have been arrested for related crimes, including more than 320 individuals charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement.
