
Exploring Faster-Than-Light Communication as an Alternative to Warp Drives
While achieving faster-than-light travel with warp drives remains elusive due to the need for copious amounts of negative energy, a recent paper suggests that faster-than-light communication may be possible. Communication operates at a smaller scale and requires less energy than spacecraft propulsion. The paper proposes using tubular distribution of negative energy in hypertubes to enable the acceleration and deceleration of warp bubbles for superluminal communication. Although special devices would need to be designed and built for long-distance communication, the fabrication of microchips capable of superluminal computing is tantalizingly within reach using today's technology.
