Luxury Fashion Brands Linked to Goat Abuse: PETA Investigation Reveals
Luxury brands including Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Chanel, Burberry, and Prada have been accused by PETA of sourcing their cashmere from Mongolian farms that mistreat and abuse goats. Hidden-camera footage revealed goats being tied down and stretched out, while workers used sharp combs to rake out their fleece, causing them pain. PETA investigators found evidence of cruelty, including goats with bleeding penises and one found dead after being seen limping. The brands implicated in the report, which also include Bottega Veneta, Dior, Max Mara, and Naadam, have been called upon by PETA to use vegan cashmere alternatives. The Sustainable Fibre Alliance's certification, which some brands claim to have, is criticized as meaningless by PETA.
