Vonn's leg spared by surgery after Olympic crash
U.S. skier Lindsey Vonn says a fasciectomy saved her leg from amputation after crashing at the 2026 Winter Olympics; she endured a complex tibia fracture, ankle injuries, a blood transfusion and compartment syndrome, spent nearly two weeks immobile in hospital, and is now out and focusing on rehab with bone healing expected to take about a year and possible future surgery to remove hardware and repair her ACL.
