Russia Thwarts Nuclear Smuggling and Cybercrime Attempts
Russia's Federal Security Service has arrested five individuals, including a Ukrainian citizen, for attempting to smuggle 1 kilogram of Cesium-137 out of Russia for $3.5 million. The FSB claims the group planned to use the radioactive material to incriminate Moscow in a false-flag attack on Ukraine. The suspects sought to conduct a propaganda campaign by staging a false-flag operation with weapons of mass destruction. The Interior Ministry has initiated criminal cases into the misuse of and preparations to smuggle nuclear and radioactive materials over the incident.
