Police Identify Deceased in Vermont Officer-Involved Shooting
Kenneth Barber Jr., 38, was shot and killed by a Fair Haven police officer after he left a house armed with a handgun and argued with several residents from next door. Barber was disarmed by the residents but broke free and attempted to drive away, striking Detective Shaun Hewitt with the car. Hewitt fired his service weapon one time, hitting Barber in the torso. Barber was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The Vermont State Police are investigating the incident, and the case will be turned over to the Vermont Attorney General’s Office to review the use of force.
