The Chicago Fire have fired head coach Ezra Hendrickson and assistant Junior Gonzalez. Frank Klopas, who previously coached the team from 2011-2013, will take over as head coach through the rest of 2023. The Fire have only made the playoffs once in the last 11 seasons and currently sit second-bottom in the Eastern Conference.

The team has compiled a 12-18-14 regular season record across the last two seasons under Hendrickson's tenure. The Fire will return to action on Tuesday, May 9, when the team hosts MLS expansion side and Midwest rival St. Louis CITY SC in the Round of 32 of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at SeatGeek Stadium.
