Kenneth Anger, Counterculture Filmmaker and Author, Passes Away at 96.

Kenneth Anger, an experimental filmmaker who influenced popular visual culture, died at the age of 96. His best-known film, "Scorpio Rising," is considered a precursor to the music video and influenced movies such as "Mean Streets" and "Blue Velvet." Anger's reputation as a filmmaker rested on a relatively small body of work, including nine short, wordless films known as the Magick Lantern Cycle. He was comfortable in the company of the famous, including members of the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, but also scandalized them in his lurid tell-all book, "Hollywood Babylon."
