Sony's use of Xbox revenue for exclusivity deals revealed by Phil Spencer.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer claims that Sony uses revenue from Xbox games on PlayStation to sign exclusivity deals and block third-party games from coming to Xbox. According to Spencer, Sony receives a 30% split from Xbox games and uses it "to try to reduce Xbox's survival on the market." This has resulted in numerous Square Enix games skipping over Xbox and pre-acquisition Bethesda games having console exclusivity deals with PlayStation. Spencer made these comments during Microsoft's legal battle with the FTC.

Despite PlayStation often signing timed exclusivity deals with the publisher, the issue is on Microsoft's side rather than Square Enix. Microsoft has complained to lawmakers that Sony is the reason popular Japanese games won't launch on Xbox.
