Tragedy in Howell: Toddler dies in accidental shooting.

A 2-year-old child in Michigan died from an accidental shooting after accessing an unsecured firearm. Nearly one child shoots themselves or someone else using an unsecured firearm every day, according to gun-violence prevention nonprofit Everytown for Gun Safety. The incident comes less than two months after Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed bills requiring safe storage requirements for firearms.

Tragic Accident: 3-Year-Old Shoots Himself in Tennessee

A 3-year-old boy died after accidentally shooting himself in a vehicle in Collierville, Tennessee. The incident adds to the more than 120 unintentional shootings by children documented by Everytown for Gun Safety so far this year in the U.S., resulting in 54 deaths and 77 injuries as of May 26. Tennessee has seen at least nine unintentional shootings by children, resulting in two deaths and seven injuries as of May 26. The incident has prompted calls for responsible gun storage requirements for both vehicles and homes.

"Wear Orange" Movement Spreads Awareness on Gun Violence

Survivors of gun violence and advocates for gun control laws gathered at a "Wear Orange" event in Albuquerque to raise awareness of the impact of gun violence. Regina Griego, a member of Moms Demand Action and Everytown for Gun Safety, is focused on passing laws to prevent dangerous individuals from obtaining guns and to outlaw large capacity ammunition magazines and assault weapons. Josette Otero, who lost her son to gun violence, emphasized the importance of supporting advocacy efforts and changing laws to prevent further tragedies.
