Close Call: Allegiant Pilot's Quick Thinking Averts In-Air Collision
An Allegiant Air flight attendant was injured when the pilot took evasive action to avoid an in-air collision over South Florida. The pilot received an automated alert about another aircraft at the same altitude, prompting the maneuver. Passengers described the experience as feeling like a roller coaster, with the plane ascending and then leveling out. Two flight attendants fell backwards during the ascent, and the injured attendant was treated upon landing. The FAA is investigating the incident, while Allegiant declined to comment.
