Batman triumphs in EU trademark battle against Italian designer.
Europe's second-top court has ruled in favor of DC Comics, the owner of the Batman trademark, in a dispute with Italian clothing retailer Commerciale Italiana Srl. The court upheld the European Union Intellectual Property Office's decision to reject Commerciale Italiana's challenge to the trademark's distinctive character, which was registered more than two decades ago. The Italian company can appeal to the EU Court of Justice.
