Track Cycling World Champion Ethan Boyes Dies in San Francisco Collision
Ethan Boyes, a 44-year-old track cycling champion, died after being struck by a car while riding in San Francisco's Presidio area. The incident has highlighted the city's struggles to reduce traffic fatalities, with bicycle safety activists calling for improvements to the heavily used cycling route connecting Golden Gate Park and the Presidio. San Francisco is working towards a "Vision Zero" plan of eliminating traffic deaths by 2024, but recorded its largest number of traffic fatalities in 2022. Boyes was the reigning masters track world champion in the men's 40-44 age group for the time trial and sprint events.
