Guardians and Padres Complete Trade, Acquiring Barlow and De Los Santos
The Cleveland Guardians have acquired reliever Scott Barlow from the San Diego Padres in exchange for Enyel De Los Santos in a one-for-one swap. The Guardians also signed outfielder Ramón Laureano to a one-year contract to avoid arbitration. Barlow, who spent the majority of his career with the Kansas City Royals, has been an effective bullpen arm but saw a slight decline in performance this year. The Padres, aiming to cut spending, traded Barlow to clear payroll room. In return, they received De Los Santos, a more affordable bullpen piece.
