
AI Surge Drains Hard-Drive Supply as WD Says 2026 Is Sold Out
Western Digital says its storage capacity for calendar 2026 is largely sold out due to surging AI and enterprise demand, with capacity concentrated among its top seven customers and some 2027–2028 agreements already in place. With consumer sales shrinking to about 5% of revenue, memory shortages and higher prices are expected to persist as AI-driven demand outpaces supply.
