Athlete's Historic 315-Mile Swim Conquers Hudson River
Endurance swimmer Lewis Pugh, the United Nations' official Patron of the Oceans, has successfully completed a month-long swim of the 315-mile length of New York's Hudson River, from the Adirondack Mountains to Battery Park. Pugh's purpose was to raise awareness of the importance of rivers to ecosystems, and he will be delivering that message to the UN. Despite treacherous conditions and exhaustion, Pugh described the swim as incredibly rewarding and expressed gratitude for the support he received from onlookers and supporters along the way.
