Swimmers Brave Great Lakes for Mental Health and Child Safety

Two endurance swimmers, Bryan Huffman and Jim Dreyer, are planning to freestyle swim across Lake Michigan next month, a challenging and dangerous feat that has been accomplished by only a few others. Huffman, a 49-year-old ophthalmologist, aims to swim the Great Lake without a wetsuit, while Dreyer, who turns 60 in August, previously swam it in 1998. Both swimmers hope to raise money for causes they care about, with Huffman supporting swimming lessons and Dreyer supporting the Chief Petty Officers Association. The swim is approximately 50 miles long and will require careful planning and safety measures.
