CEO's Bold Move: 20% Pay Cut and 4-Day Workweek Saves Company

Microsoft CEO's Pay Unaffected Despite Employee Salary Freeze

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced in an email to employees that the company will freeze the salaries of full-time employees this year due to a "competitive environment" and "global macroeconomic uncertainties." While certain hourly roles will receive salary increases, full-time salaried employees will not. This comes despite Microsoft's net profit of $18.29 billion in Q3 of its fiscal 2023. Nadella himself received almost $55 million in compensation for his service in fiscal 2022, up 10 percent from the previous year. The announcement follows Microsoft's redundancy of 10,000 staff in January and is part of a wider trend of cost-cutting in the tech industry.
