OSHA cites Nationwide Children's for workplace violence against staff.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has cited Nationwide Children's Hospital for failing to protect employees from patient assaults. OSHA proposes fines of over $18,000 and wants the hospital to implement specific changes to prevent future violations. The hospital has 15 business days to comply, request an informal meeting with OSHA, or contest the agency's findings. The hospital allegedly failed to keep proper records of employee injuries and exposed nurses and mental health specialists to physical and sexual assaults resulting in serious physical injuries. Nationwide Children's is reviewing OSHA's findings and working with the agency directly about its concerns.
