Cameron Police Officer Hunter Scheel, 23, was one of two officers fatally shot during a traffic stop in Barron County, Wisconsin. Scheel had served with the Cameron Police Department since 2022 and also served six years with the National Guard. Both officers will be escorted via a law enforcement procession from the medical examiner’s office in Ramsey County to their respective funeral homes on Monday.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice has released new details on the shooting incident that left two police officers and the suspect dead in Barron County. The officers, Chetek Police Officer Emily Breidenbach and Cameron Police Officer Hunter Scheel, pulled over Glenn Douglas Perry, 50, due to a warrant and concerning behavior. During the traffic stop, Perry, who was armed, exchanged gunfire with the officers, resulting in the deaths of Breidenbach and Scheel. Perry died at the hospital. Funeral arrangements for the officers are pending.
