Charleston Man Receives Prison Sentence for COVID Relief Fund Fraud
A 26-year-old man from Charleston, South Carolina, has been sentenced to one year and a day in federal prison for fraudulently applying for an emergency injury disaster loan under the CARES Act. Antonio Brown-Sanders falsely represented owning a lawn care business and misrepresented the number of employees and gross income on his application. He received $81,600 from the Small Business Administration. In addition to the prison term, he was ordered to pay restitution and will be under court-ordered supervision for three years after serving his sentence.
