"Over 100 Anglers Rescued from Ice Floes in Minnesota Amid Rising Safety Concerns"
Over 100 anglers were rescued from an ice floe that broke away from the shoreline on Upper Red Lake in Minnesota. The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office coordinated the rescue after an emergency call reported the anglers stranded with a significant gap of water between them and the shore. Although some individuals fell into the water while attempting to reach safety via canoe, no injuries were reported after the 2 1/2-hour rescue operation. The incident occurred amidst warnings from state officials about unusually thin ice this winter, following a recent fatal accident on Lake of the Woods involving a vehicle breaking through the ice.
