"Kenyan Gas Explosion: Owner, Officials Arraigned as President Blames Corruption"
The owner of the Mradi Gas Company in Embakasi, where a deadly explosion killed six people and injured over 300, has been arraigned alongside three Nema officials at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi. They are being investigated for murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, negligence of duty, and abuse of office. The prosecution sought to have the suspects detained for 21 days to conclude investigations, citing public interest and the need to record statements from relatives of the deceased and injured. The defense opposed the detention, arguing it would violate their constitutional rights, and requested their clients be freed on bond pending completion of the investigations.
