Baz Luhrmann hints at an Elvis Cinematic Universe built from lost Las Vegas footage
Baz Luhrmann discusses EPiC, his Elvis project assembled from 59 hours of long-lost Elvis Las Vegas footage unearthed from salt mines. He calls it a “tone poem” that isn’t strictly a documentary or a concert film, with Elvis himself narrating and guiding the story. The restoration required extensive rights work and Luhrmann funded the IMAX release (general release on Feb. 27, 2026). He hints the material could fuel subsequent Elvis projects—potentially signaling an Elvis Cinematic Universe—though the approach remains a personal, observational look at Elvis’s life rather than mythmaking.
