Surfer Presumed Dead in South Australia Shark Attack
A school teacher, believed to be Simon Baccanello, is presumed dead after a shark attack while surfing off the west coast of South Australia. Fragments of a wetsuit and the suspected remains of his surfboard have been found. Shark attacks are relatively rare off South Australia, with only one case in 2022 not involving any injury. Baccanello was a teacher at nearby Elliston Area School and is remembered as a fine teacher and genuine human being.
