Emma Bates Shatters Records at Boston Marathon
Emma Bates, a native of Elk River, Minnesota, finished the Boston Marathon in 2:22:10, making her the second-fastest American woman in the race's history. The only American woman to finish faster was Shalane Flanagan in 2014. This was Bates' first time running the Boston Marathon.
