"SEC Spring Meetings Address Conference Schedule Conundrum and Expansion"
SEC leaders will vote on whether to implement an eight- or nine-game conference schedule for 2024 and beyond at their upcoming meetings. Arkansas football coach Sam Pittman is open to both options, but recent reports suggest support for the nine-game model has cooled. The SEC requires its football teams to schedule at least one non-conference game against another Power 5 school each season, but that requirement might go away if teams are required to play nine conference games. Texas and Oklahoma reportedly prefer a nine-game schedule, while seven SEC teams are in favor of the nine-game model. Other topics expected to be discussed include Name, Image and Likeness, gambling, the NCAA transfer portal, and spectator safety.
