LAUSD and Workers Reach Tentative Deal After Strike, Benefits for Students and Staff Expected.
The Service Employees International Union, which represents 30,000 education workers in the Los Angeles Unified School District, has reached a tentative deal with the district following a three-day strike. The union had sought a 30% pay increase and a minimum wage of $25 per hour. The deal includes a one-time $1,000 raise, a minimum wage of $22.52 per hour, and a $3 million educational and professional development fund for union members. The deal must still be voted on by the full union.
