Des Moines Superintendent Ian Roberts Faces Deportation and License Revocation
The superintendent of Des Moines public schools, Ian Roberts, was arrested by ICE due to immigration issues and has had his education license revoked by Iowa officials. Roberts, a Guyana native, was detained for having a final removal order and no work authorization, and was found with a loaded handgun. The school district has placed him on administrative leave while they review the situation, amid questions about his citizenship and legal ability to serve as superintendent.
