Amazon Web Services' US-EAST-1 region experienced another outage affecting EC2, ECS, EMR Serverless, and other services due to internal dependencies and infrastructure issues, but the company reported that the problem has been resolved as of late October 29.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has released Amazon Linux 2023 (AL2023), which is delivering significant speed-ups for maximizing performance and value in their public cloud. AL2023 is derived from Fedora Linux, uses OpenSSL 3 by default, and has a variety of optimizations and package updates. It runs the fresh Linux 6.1 LTS kernel, GCC 11.3 as its default system compiler, Python 3.9, and other recent package versions. Benchmarks show that AL2023 can deliver better performance advantages for the EC2 cloud without any pricing impact.
