Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport to Shut Down in June, Community Caught Off Guard
Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport, New York, will close on June 17, 2023, leaving patients and employees without access to healthcare services. The hospital has been struggling for years and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2019. The closure will affect all of Niagara County, including those in need of a rape kit administered by a sexual assault nurse examiner. Catholic Health will take over operations of ENH’s Urgent Care and Ambulatory Surgery Center on Transit Road immediately following the hospital’s closure. Almost 300 employees will be laid off because of the closure.
