Two men in Montana have been indicted for allegedly killing approximately 3,600 birds, including bald eagles and golden eagles, and selling them on the black market. The men face years in prison and fines up to $250,000 if convicted. The indictment reveals messages where one of the men described himself as being "on a killing spree" to obtain eagle tail feathers for future sales. The charges include conspiracy, unlawful trafficking of eagles, and violating the Lacey Act. Another man from Montana was recently sentenced to three years in prison for killing 14 juvenile eagles.
