Five deputies from the Rankin County Sheriff's Department in Mississippi have been fired or resigned following a drug raid in January that left a Black man with a gunshot wound to the face. The incident involved allegations of physical assault, sexual assault, and tasering of the two Black men during the raid. The victims have filed a $400 million lawsuit against the sheriff's department. The department's internal investigation, along with investigations by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations and the Department of Justice, are ongoing. The terminated deputies' names have not been disclosed, and the plaintiffs' attorneys are hoping for criminal charges to be filed.
