Brewers edge out Mets in close game.
The New York Mets lost 2-1 to the Milwaukee Brewers after Drew Smith blew a one-run lead in his first game back from a 10-game suspension for using sticky stuff. The Mets' bullpen issues have been particularly egregious in June, and they are currently in fourth place in the NL East. Justin Verlander threw five scoreless innings, but the Mets managed only three hits in the game and continued to struggle.
