5 men sentenced for $100 million Dresden jewelry heist
Five men have been sentenced to prison for their involvement in the theft of 18th-century jewels worth over $100 million from a Dresden museum in 2019. The men, aged 24 to 29, were convicted of aggravated arson, theft with weapons, damage to property, and intentional arson. They were caught several months later in Berlin, and most of the stolen jewels were returned in a plea bargain. The state of Saxony claimed damages of almost 89 million euros in court.
