Coastal Florida Braces for Severe Flooding and Stormy Weather
A Coastal Flood Warning and a Coastal Flood Advisory are in effect for Northeast Florida along the Atlantic Coast on Monday and Tuesday morning due to a strong onshore flow that will bring standing water and flickering lights. Water levels are expected to rise 2 to 4 feet above normal, causing possible flooding along the St. Johns River and the beaches. Drivers are urged not to drive around barricades and to have an alternative route planned in case of road closures. The Florida Department of Transportation is building a drainage improvement project on King Street near A1A to tackle flooding and drainage issues in downtown St. Augustine.
