The Eastfield Mall in Springfield, Massachusetts, closed its doors for the last time as it prepares for demolition and redevelopment. Among the businesses affected is Mykonos Greek restaurant, which has been a part of the mall since the 1980s. However, Mykonos will reopen in October in the TD Bank Center building in downtown Springfield. The closure of the mall, which has been struggling due to the rise of online retailing, has left many mom-and-pop businesses searching for new locations. Mykonos owner Christos Hatzis signed a lease for space in the downtown business district and is excited about the move.
