Celebrating the Legacy of Donyale Luna and Bethann Hardison in New Documentaries
Two new documentaries, "Donyale Luna: Supermodel" and "Invisible Beauty," shed light on the pioneering careers of Donyale Luna and Bethann Hardison, respectively. Luna, the first Black woman to appear on the cover of British Vogue in 1966, struggled with her identity and found solace in her modeling career. Hardison, a 1970s model, faced discrimination and founded the Bethann Management Agency and the Black Girls' Coalition to advocate for Black models. Both documentaries offer a candid look at the fashion industry and the challenges faced by trailblazers.
