Police Officer Shot in Head, Suspect Dead in Covington Motel Shootout

An officer was shot in the head and a 23-year-old suspect was killed during an exchange of gunfire at a Covington motel in Georgia. The officer is in stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital. The shooting occurred while officers were responding to a domestic fight. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will issue a statement later today. This is the 40th officer-involved shooting the GBI has been requested to investigate in 2023.
