Google Domains to be Shut Down, Assets Acquired by Squarespace
Google is selling its registrar business, Google Domains, to Squarespace, which includes handing off 10 million domains owned by Google customers. The deal makes Squarespace the exclusive domain provider for Google Workspace customers for the next three years. Customers will get the same renewal prices for the next 12 months, and Squarespace will provide incentives for customers to build their website with the company's platform. The deal is worth $180 million and is expected to close in the third quarter of 2023.
