Elizabeth Holmes, the disgraced Theranos co-founder, had a Siberian husky named Balto, whom she claimed was a wolf and allowed to poop all around the Theranos office. Balto was named after a fake dog hero from 100 years ago, and Holmes tried to make him into an entirely different kind of dog hero. Balto died at the paws of a mountain lion, and Holmes searched for him for 16 hours, losing herself in the underbrush.
