"Renowned Mountaineer and Filmmaker David Breashears Passes Away at 68"
David Breashears, a renowned climber and producer of an IMAX documentary about Mount Everest, has passed away at 68. He was the first person to send live photos from the summit of Everest in 1983 and later became the first U.S. citizen to summit twice. Breashears also stopped to help other climbers during a deadly blizzard while filming his documentary in 1986. His family described him as a passionate climber and photographer who became a respected adventure filmmaker. After releasing his documentary, he founded a nonprofit called GlacierWorks to raise awareness about climate change's impact on the Himalayas.
