Google Docs Integrates Gemini AI for Enhanced Document Creation

Google Docs is testing a new AI-powered feature called "Help me create," which uses Gemini to generate formatted documents from scratch. This feature allows users to integrate Google Drive files by typing "@" followed by the file name, although it doesn't retain the original layout or style. While it enhances productivity by creating various document types, it currently cannot generate images of people and is available only to select users in the Gemini for Google Workspace Alpha and Workspace Labs programs.

Slack introduces new features for seamless collaboration.

Slack has launched Canvas, a feature that allows users to create documents within the messaging app. Every channel in Slack now has a canvas attached to it, and users can make and share as many as they want. Canvases are collections of Slack objects that can include text, photos, videos, links, polls, and more. They are particularly useful for replacing bookmarks and pins in Slack and handle sharing and permissions well. While not a competitor to Google Docs, Canvas is a great place to put stuff that users will be able to find again.
