Amazon's Alexa Guard Security Features Now Require Subscription

Amazon is discontinuing the free version of Alexa Guard, a DIY security feature for Echo devices, and moving some of its features to the paid Emergency Assist service, which costs $5.99 per month or $59 per year. The $5.99 subscription price for Emergency Assist is an introductory offer that will expire on January 8th, 2024, after which it will be available only to Amazon Prime subscribers.

ADT's DIY Home Security Solution Integrates with Google Devices.

The system can be professionally monitored for $24.99 a month, with the option for video verification. Starting at $219.98 for a basic setup, it is less expensive than Google's discontinued Nest Secure system and competitive with offerings from Ring and SimpliSafe. However, the hardware is the same as ADT's ill-fated first DIY system, Blue by ADT.
