Amazon's Alexa Guard Security Features Now Require Subscription
Amazon is discontinuing the free version of Alexa Guard, a DIY security feature for Echo devices, and moving some of its features to the paid Emergency Assist service, which costs $5.99 per month or $59 per year. While certain Guard features will still be available for free, others like glass break sound detection will require a subscription. Existing Ring Protect Pro customers will receive Alexa Emergency Assist for free until October 31st, 2024. The $5.99 subscription price for Emergency Assist is an introductory offer that will expire on January 8th, 2024, after which it will be available only to Amazon Prime subscribers.
